A photography book is both a concrete object and a concept with its own history. The photography book is an art genre, and a place where photography, the book printer's craft, and typography meet. A photograph in a book becomes a part of the flow of images and of the narrative of the tale.

The Finnish Museum of Photography is showing photography books from the 1880s up to the present. At one end of the spectrum are distinctive, individual classics that stand out from the crowd of photography books, and at the other end are a variety of publications that typify the genre. The exhibition also includes a large number of photographs that have made specific books memorable. While you are at the exhibition, you can browse through the books, immerse yourself in the flow of images, take a book in your hands, or compare the pictures in the books with the photographs on the walls.

The exhibition Page After Page - The Finnish Photography Book has been curated by photographic artist Taneli Eskola.
